Super Mario 64 on Android TV

by SpongeDogg

Has anyone had any success with compiling the sm64port on their Android TV?
You need to install Termux from the Play store, add to dependencies and make it.

That's the theory anyway. My phone can compile and run the APK but my Google TV for Chromecast goes through the motions but no APK. It would be nice to play with a bluetooth controller on the big screen.

Why not install an N64 emulator like M64 Plus FZ and play the original rom? Works like a charm on my MiBox with a Bluetooth controller.

I am running retroarch on my shield TV. I play Mario64 with the vulkan driver. I don't remember which core I am using for 64 though.

Result! When you run the make the --jobs 4 directive i imagine was causing the CCwGT ro run out of memory. Just do the make without parameters and it will be fine. Takes some time.

Once it's finished:

cp build/us_pc/*.apk ~/storage/downloads/

And then install the signed one as a normal app.

Try it, it is phenomenal, and a far better experience than emulation. Instant start, the sound is perfect, and no endless faffing with arcane Retroarch parameters.

I sent over (using app 'Send Files to TV'), the M64Plus FZ apk file (I've bought it on my phone), then use, I think, xplore (on shield TV pro) to install and have full use of the emulator without having to side launch or cast it.

If you want someone to test your APK on other devices, I have a CCwGTV, 2015 Nvidia Shield and an OG Nexus Player all hooked up to different TVs. No compiling skill though. That's beyond me.

I have this on my switch, it is miles better than the Mario35th version.

Can't you compile on your phone and then just transfer the APK to the Chromecast?

I just use the N64 Plus FZ - haven’t tried Super Mario 64 specifically but Mario Kart and various other games have been absolutely find
