The Google TV Chromecast will play podcasts from my G.Podcasts subs (like the old chromecast would), but I can't seem to find an app. Is there not a podcasts app for the G TV device?

Did you check DoublePod ?
For what it's worth I listen to my podcasts on Spotify using the app on my CWGTV and it works just fine
Only spotify and tunein are supported in atv and play podcasts I think. But no gpodcasts
There isn't but I think you can cast the content to the device, did you check if the cast icon appears in the app?
