It's a Network data thruput limitation.
Smart TV's WiFi is not reliable enough and 100Mbps only Ethernet on all Smart TV's cannot cope either with 4K peak bitrates that exceed 100M.
4K SmartTV are all designed around - internet streaming - 4K bitrates that would max out at around 40Mbps these days
With Apple servers currently streaming using the highest video bitrates.
I would try direct connecting a USB hard drive to the TV and hope it is compatible with NTFS formatted HDD's.
Solution, use a cheap Gigabit Ethernet equipped CoreELEC Kodi box, like a 4GB RAM X96 Air or Max:
