Archos Video Player for TV - What is that on the GUI?

by ob_ladi_ob_lada

I have Archos Video Player installed on my Sony XBR-55X900E TV, and I think this video player is just extraordinary. Last night I noticed something for the first time. When I pause a video, a blue bar appears on the bottom to indicate where in the timeline my video currently is. However, on the left side running from top of the screen to the bottom, there is a bar with a plus sign at the top and a minus sign at the bottom. The bar is filled in about one-third of the way from the bottom to the top. That bar does not indicate the viewing timeline (I was at about 90% of the way to the end of the video when I paused and noticed the bar on the left side).

I played around with the buttons on my Sony remote but nothing I did had any affect on that bar. I thought perhaps it was volume but raising the volume did not affect that bar.

I searched around for an explanation of the various GUI features of the Archos Video Player but I found nothing related to this bar on the left side. Would any of you happen to know what that bar is and how to manipulate it? I thank you for your time and courtesy.

Archos Video Player is practically dead, so I recommend to switch to a forked version called r/NovaVideoPlayer it's currently active and the developer is willing to help you.
