GoogleTV - can I remove youTube recommendations only?

by Mudcaker

I think I can't but just confirming. I signed out of YouTube which should mean that whatever our guests watch (kids usually) won't mess up my own recommendations, but it's still recommending stuff on the main screen based on my Google account history. Nothing terrible but not really stuff for kids and it gets in the way.

So there's no way to clean this up without going full apps only mode?

Side note, I'm otherwise really enjoying the new Chromecast, but that might be because I was so used to swearing at my old Samsung TV's UI :)

I wish I could remove Disney+ recommendation. I'm not subscribed and I don't plan to.

You can find a third party launcher in the Google play store though I believe if you go all the way to the bottom of the home screen you can choose what apps are recommended

If you scroll to the bottom of your home screen, you will see an option to customize channels. Click on that. In the the side menu , you will be able to decide exactly what you do or don't want to show on your screen.
