I would avoid a mi box. They aren't bad, but it is the one I expect has the worst performance relative to the others,
Chromecast with Google tv remote is too small. The Shield Tv on paper has much more power than Chromecast. Can’t go wrong with Shield tv but depends what you want to spend and what you want to do with it.
Be aware in the budget streaming space the recent FireTV Sticks have the best, most reliable AC MIMO WiFi Networking performance vs anything Android TV. The best wireless remotes as well for the FireTV Cube, FireTV Stick 4K and Stick 3.

The Xiaomi Mi Boxes have Bluetooth remotes that are very susceptible to 2.4GHz Radio Freq interference. Placement of the Mi Box away from other 2.4GHz RF generating devices (like WiFi routers) can often be critical if you want decent remote control reliability.
The Shield Tube is one of the most polarising products of recent times. It's expensive and some hate it for it's unreliability when streaming high bitrate 4K REMUXes.
But it will whip all the other Android devices asses and then some and there have been No widely reported problematic WiFi or remote control connectivity issues.
Buying a device based on what is "faster" is folly IMHO. Firmware stability and bug free reliability are very important.

TBH, I own both and a firestick. I would go with firestick all day. Don’t bother wasting your hard earned money on these devices. Firesticks are the kings of budget streaming!!!!!! Hands down!
Google TV has a newer, faster version of the processor in the Mi Box S.
