VPN Options (Free preferred)

by [deleted]

Hey guys, just looking for recommendations for an android TV VPN, preferably free.

I know ExpressVPN and NordVPN are great, but I wouldn't want to pay 25AUD each month if i can help it.

I have tried HolaVPN but it's very patchy (it says its connected but it hasn't). Any recommendations? I'm okay with being bound by data restrictions with a free account

I'd definitely avoid free VPNs... HolaVPN if I remember correctly is a bit shady, so probably avoid them, too.

I got SurfShark on a Black Friday deal (I think it's still available) for $60 for 2 years + 3 months, and you can use it on unlimited devices simultaneously, so you can split the cost with friends. Works well so far, has a good and simple AndroidTV app.

Free VPN's are the worst thing you can do. You are paying with your privacy and data.

Avoid any VPN that costs less than $5 a month

There's reasons why they are so cheap.

I've got NordVPN for about a total of about $100 USD (dont remember the exact amount) for 3 years. If you do decide to go for a paid one, Google a proper discount, 25 AUD a month is a ripoff.

Edit: just checked, they have 24 month "Christmas deal" for $89 + you get 3 month free. Thats just by going to their website, no special codes, deals, referr links etc. I know i've got it cheaper, too (just don't remember how much was it). They always have "deals", don't ever pay their 'full price'.

Try Windscribe. The only freemium VPN worth checking out.

Windsribe - great app that works perfectly on Android TV with a remote.

Got a lifetime deal for peanuts through stack social too.
