I had my MiBox S for a week before I returned it. So many bugs, little stuff not working. Ended up getting a used 2017 Shield for just bit more $. Now that the Google TV is out, for the same money I wouldn't even think twice about grabbing that over MiBox.
I've never had any luck with the Chromecast app on the MiBox. The only way I've been able to get it to work consistently is to uninstall all of the updates to the built-in Chromecast app and turn off auto-update.
have you checked your phone's display settings? I noticed this with some apps that weren't using all of the screen natively because of the way my phone is set to adjust for a teardrop front camera
I could never get mine to cast without it looking like shit.
Stick with nvidia shield pro. It rocks. Costs more but excellent return on investment. The next best loaded Chinese media box costs few dollars less than the nvidia so just pay little more and get the best out there.
Depending on the App, Chromecast can basically transmit an heavily compressed image from your phone wirelessly, if there are connection issues between your phone and box, there can be artifacts.
YouTube is not affected because rather than transmitting any image data, basically only controls from your phone are sent.
And huh, faulty wifi modem perhaps? Could also be a bug ofc.
