Mainly going to use the cast feature . My TV is 1080p so 4K capabilities don't matter. Mostly going to watch YouTube and Amazon prime video .

Have you considered the Chromecast with Google TV?
Both are good options. But why cast, when you can get the mibox which had the apps you're wanting to cast? I have both and use the mibox most of the time because it's just more convenient just to open an app rather than casting from the phone. Plus, of you're tv is CEC capable, you don't need 2 remotes laying around as the mibox can control the tv as well.
I would definitely go for the Mi Box 4K. You preference will change in the future and when they do you're going to be glad you chose the Mi Box over the Chromecast with Android TV.
Also from a pricing perspective it makes more sense to go for the Mi Box.
I have used a Mi Box S for over a year now. It's "ok". I find some nagging annoying issues. It drops the USB drive every so often. I try to stop it sleeping but to no avail. It also now seems to just stop midway through a movie when using Kodi. I am not sure why. I have tried reinstalls etc. Nothing works. Also, with Amazon Prime, some older shows simply will not display the correct aspect ration, eg older seasons of Top Gear, yet if I Chromecast to the MiBox, the aspect ratio is fine.
What I am saying is that there are enough annoying bugs with it that it led me to purchase a Google TV two days ago. I can't justify getting a nVidia Shield so my hopes are a properly supported Android TV device will do the trick. It is hard to find good Android TV based media players so I reckon the official Google one will be better.
Go for Chromecast with Google TV.
