Trying to get LED strips to use screen data

by AtticusFinchOG

How would I go about getting the screen data to the led box/strip I have connected to my android tv? I'm using the android Ambilight application, but whenever I select screen capture, it only captures UI elements, like the input box that pops up when I change inputs. It doesn't seem to capture anything else from the screen, and seeing as the whole reason I bought it is to use it with my xbox, it's pretty useless right now. Any help would be appreciated!

as far as in know the app only works with internal sources that are not DRM protected. To capture the xbox your need something to either sit between the xbox and TV (possibly running Hyperion-ng) or use a camera to capture the screen

Best place to start is adding a list of what LED kit you have

This is on the website you bought that device from

Note: 1.  The picture from the TV tuner is not processed at the Android OS level, the backlight with regular tv channels will not work. Samsung/LG not belong to Android Operating System. If you want to use it with Samsung/LG TV, you must connect an extra Android TV box to your TV first, then can be used with our product. 2. The backlight works only in Android OS applications that do not use protected content. 3. 4K performance depends only on the capabilities of the equipment. Unfortunately, programs such as YouTube and Netflix use protected content, the backlight in such programs will not work.

I bought a similar led setup, (£25 on Amazon), I use this app also (ambient light application for Android TV)

It works fine for me (yes DRM does not work), it works in Kodi, Plex, 3rd party apps, tivimate, live channels, YouTube.

Works very well for me, play with the setup config, took me a while to figure out but it does work!
