Anyone else running an alternative YouTube app whose button is misbehaving?

I installed Smart YouTube and used the free version of Button Mapper to map my remote's YouTube button to open that instead. It worked great for a couple weeks. Since yesterday whenever I press it I'm brought to the YouTube app selection screen, which says, "Select your favorite YouTube app." There's only the default YouTube app as an option; I don't have YT Music or YT Kids installed.

Is this due to a recent update? Is anyone else dealing with this? And, if so, does anyone know a fix?

edit: I tried a number of things and it seems to be working now. The key setting seemed to be to turn on Alternative button handling, under Troubleshooting in the Button Mapper app.

I've had the same issue, but I mapped it to play/pause instead. Not found a fix for it yet, I'm wondering if there was an update to the remote
