backing up and restoring android tv box to a new one?

by ghosstss

Hi everyone,

so i finally got myself a 2017 shield pro and unfortunately, i am googling without any outcome a simple solution to how backup and restore everything on the new box, i have used a jetstream box for around 2 years and would love to have my kodi and everything copied to shield instead of setting up from scratch.

is there an easy way to do it or should i forget about it all together?

You can copy over Kodi folder from one Android TV device to another, however you will need to do it via a program. I use adbLink to do this, it has a backup and restore feature specifically for Kodi. Will need to turn on ADB debugging tho.

Unfortunately Android TV doesn’t provide an easy backup and restore solution for user data and settings.

I'm going to follow this. I have a shield and a jetstream on two different TV's and would like to sync the two. Or I would even consider buying another shield if there is a way to synchronize them.

I have never tried but you could try through ADB backup and restore...
