Can't Cast Netflix To An Android TV?

by Waitaki

I gave an android TV to my bf. It has a built-in Chromecast. Just set it up, and it seems I can't cast Netflix from my app. I can with whatever else, but when I tried to cast Netflix, it said I had to be in the same account. It just opened the Netflix app, not a Chromecast instance. Sooo....basically, if you have an android TV, only you can cast with your signed in app, otherwise friends or anyone else can only use Netflix with the remote and the signed in account? What sort of nonsense is this, especially with a Google TV with Chromecast built in?

instead of wasting time here why dont you ask netflix?

That's opposite to how I would expect it to work, since I thought it just mirrored the screen and wouldn't log any info into the tvs apps itself because that sounds counter intuitive into the convenience of casting. But it looks like it's an intentional decision by Google or Netflix sadly.

They essentially made casting Netflix completely useless on a smart tv by not being able to do what you're trying. And like other comments saying it's good are missing the logic since it should just keep the history on your phones account and use the tv as a blank monitor

It's probably a Netflix decision and not Googles tho
