As the title reads, what is the BEST browser for an Android TV?. I am looking for a browser that supports HTML5 playback. I tried Puffin TV but we all know its awful. Tried TV Bro, but whenever I try to play some video or the other, this comes up " MEDIA_ERR_DECODE ".
So yeah, what browser should I use?
I use Firefox TV app, I had to sideload it.

Run away fast from Puffin. They employ a proxy server that intercepts all your requests. I tried to hit up LAN content via my local IP pool and could not. Firefox had no trouble.
I tried almost all browsers in the android tv market nothing is good enough.
So when i need to watch a movie or video from web site i using Web video caster in both devices.
Working perfectly well with any kind of video.
I sideload samsung internet. Tried chrome and others aswell but always came back to samsung internet. Adblock helps too. You have to use a mouse to control it since it's not optimized for android tv but once you get used to it, it's decent and stable enough to watch videos.
I use firefox with ublock on my shield. Works really well for me.
I tried brave on a sceptre and I run out of memory now and then. Do not recommend.
TV Bro is by far the best browser for ATV, it can download and you can search by voice, recently got ad blocking as well.
Firefox TV v4.6, make sure it's the TV version not the mobile one.
I use Bromite, you will need to sideload it or install through F-Droid.
I sideloaded Vivaldi browser. It works pretty good and has adblocker built in but it does need a mouse to work.
Not wanting to argue but why is the Puffin browser horrible? I have used it for years and never had a problem with it. So I guess we don't all know it's awful.

I don't know if it's the best, but I definitely prefer Opera for my phone and my Nvidia Shield.
puffin but its not free and it keep getting nag about purchasing a suscription
I realized how the ecosystem was horrible in Android TV yesterday. We wanted to watch our local channels nye coverage and don't have live TV.
Quickly realized android TV doesn't have Chrome (wtf?). The channel app we have on our phones doesn't exist in Android TV market.
As an alternative I switched to fire tv, the browser was there but even better the app was there.
Chrome works great but you need to sideload it
