Mi TV Stick no remote desktop?

by strataxe

So I've got a gift for my parents, Mi TV Stick which works flawlessly, except that time to time I would like to connect and show/update some apps/channels for them.
I've tried many all available desktop options with no success, TeamViewer QuickSupport(side-loaded Universal addon) or AnyDesk, unfortunately, none of them correctly transmits the commands and I am unable to access any app from the main screen, except that both allow me to go through system settings if I see an app/system options ribbon available.

I have activated overlay and enabled them in accessibility settings, no luck.

Is there a workaround or maybe someone could suggest a budget alternative that will work with remote desktop?

Thank you

The only remote support option I've used is adb connect and adb install through another computer on the same network using something like TeamViewer. They would just have to enable Developer options + USB Debugging first and give the box's IP (found in the WiFi status screen). Note USB Debugging will disable the USB ports of a device while it's enabled but don't think the Mi Stick has any anyway.

i guess u can try scrcpy? would be a bit laggy + u'd probably need to open certain ports + maybe a static ip for the stick. depends on how u have it setup. if all on the same network then scrcpy alone would do just fine.
