Recommandation for 1080p tv - Netflix and similar apps

by OursonBleu

Hi! I'm searching for a relatively cheap solution for my family. The main purpose is to watch Netflix (and maybe others services like Amazon Prime and Disney Plus). Tv is not smart and limited to 1080p so I don't care about 4K support. I would like an ethernet port for more stability. Any recommandations? Thanks for the help.

I think the Chromecast with Google TV is the best low cost option for Android TV right now. You can get it with 6 months of Netflix for $90 ( https://store.google.com/us/product/chromecast_google_tv ).

The downside is that the ethernet adapter costs an additional $20.

Mi Box S.

Cheap, does exactly what you ask for.

And I know that half the time, I'm either on this forum or the Chromecast one banging on about the Mi Box but it really is a fantastic little device.

Decently priced, enormously easy to set up and use, allows me to use Netflix, YouTube and Plex and with little trouble (what trouble I do have is, I suspect, more down to my network than the device)

I guess you could go with the Shield TV but that is a bit pricey or the new Chromecast, but I can't speak to that given its not available in my parts

If you do not need interface on TV just get older Chtomecast and cast it from your phone, it is cheapest solution I can think of. If you can spend a bit more money get Chromecast with Google TV. It is fantastic little device! Anyway I would go with Chromecast with Google TV, but if money is tight get older chromecast and it will do a trick (my friend got one for 10$).

If you want to go cheap buy chromecast and cast from your phone / pc but if you want a device which is worth its money go for Nvidia shield because you can use it for Plex as well in the future. You can find a lot of 2015/17 ones on eBay for good price.

Ethernet and kind of cheap means Roku Ultra. You can probably find a refurbished 2019 model on Amazon pretty cheap.

I guess it's because this is an Android Tv sub, no one mentioned getting an a Amazon fire tv stick. It's dirty cheap, even the lite version is fantastic for what you want, it's around 30€, and it's available in Europe, either directly from Amazon or in your country by a third party reseller. It doesn't have ethernet, but it has the best wireless , and you can get a usb to ethernet adapter
