I got scammed with a fake Samsung Android TV 6 years ago. But since it's Android, can I do something about it?

by Yourdadisme5

6 years ago our family got this TV, thinking it was Samsung through some cheap market, though it still cost about 350$. I recently checked though it's model number, it says LEDTV, lol. Looked at the back and it says "32F6300" and made in Bankok.

I'm pretty sure it's fake because I can't find the same TV anywhere on the internet. The UI looks very identical to the old T95Q Android TV Box. It's running Kitkat.

But since it's Android, can I flash it with a custom ROM somehow, and maybe do something about it? Any ideas?

Any advice is appreciated.

If it's this TV , it had a firmware update back in May.

If it really IS a knock-off, you're SOL.

And it took you 6 years to start to think doing something about it?

It sounds like the TV equivalent of an android box and as you've found unfortunately these devices are poorly supported from day one. Your best hope of getting a ROM update might be via a forum like https://forum.freaktab.com/ where hackers play around with their own devices to build home grown ROMs which come with no guarantee of working and potential risk of device bricking. An android CPU info app might tell you a bit more about the SoC and other hardware onboard but I'm not sure if that will help much.
