On my roku, I'm able to have them log in with a different account. Using the CCwGTV I can add another account globally, but can't see a way to switch or let the youtube app be on that user. Am I missing something? thx! (very happy otherwise)

You have to log out and when you log back in you will be offered both accounts. This is standard for Android TV.
If you've added another account to Android, when you're in YouTube, click the profile icon in the upper left-hand corner to switch accounts
Youtube kids? Sideloading it?
you can pause your watch history if you like
This is why I put a chromecast in the living room
Install an alternative app:
https://smartyoutubetv.github.io/
And have them use that. It's better for kids anyway as there's no adverts etc.
