TCL 55" Class 4 AndroidTV - severe A/V sync issues when casting a TAB to TV

by Arimo64

I bought this TV a little more than a month ago. I have no complaints really except for this one . Say I am on my Windows desktop, I start a stream (maybe an NBA game). I can't cast the video directly to the built in chromecast, but I can cast the tab. But that's where the problem arises. The audio continues on perfectly, but once I make the video fullscreen, the video plays at about ~80% speed, which means it only takes a few seconds for the video to get wayyy out of sync with the audio. Obviously this is completely unwatchable.

Interestingly, I can cast the same exact tab playing the same video to my Chromecast Ultra (which is connected to another TV) just fine. Maybe MORE interesting, I can cast the same tab from my Pixelbook to the TCL TV just fine as well. So I am not sure why this issue pops up ONLY when casting a tab from my Windows desktop to the built in Chromecast in the TCL TV.

I've tried Googling but it's tough to nail down this exact issue. Figured I'd throw a dart here. Thanks in advance

Well that's mirroring, lots of factors can affect the casting like your network, if your PC isn't powerful enough, etc.

I struggled terrible trying to use the TCL Chromecast with my one. Had some improvement by sideloading updated Android frameworks, but it still was less than perfect I'm sad to say.

Bought a Bravia and it works as intended.

Yes, same problem! It's shockingly bad for something I thought had been worked out ages ago. My tedious solution has been to open a browser on the TV and browse to the stream there.

sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but have you ever found a solution to this? I've tried the various online fixes of uninstalling updates for webview and chromecast built-in and then reinstalling from the app store, but no luck. I currently use an outdated gen1 chromecast in a different hdmi slot, just to be able to cast the occasional tab to tv (usually mlb), but it seems that a better solution should be there. On top of that, I'm looking to pick up a spare tv for a small office and was eyeing another tcl androidtv (tcl 4 series/S446 2021), but concerned that I'm going to continue to suffer the same issue as my current tcl (tcl 4 series/s434 2020)
