Best Box For Media Streaming/Playback?

by ohhellothere301

Hello,

I'm looking into buying the family an Android Box to replace our media PC. The only thing I need this box for is streaming Netflix, Prime, and Disney+ (non-4k). If I can get access to other shows and movies that are not yet on these streaming platforms (example: torrents) that would be a huge plus.

Having said that, what would you all recommend off Amazon?

go for Nvidia shield it can be also a Plex Media server (2015 & 2017 non-pro versions ) you won't regret. I had few media players before it and the all had some issues or lack of performance.

Nvidia Shield Pro 2019. End of thread.

Nvidia Shield (either the "Pro" or the normal model), but this *might be* overshooting it, if all you want is to just stream stuff from the Internet and you don't care about gaming etc.

Chromecast with Google TV (some people find the Google TV overlay great, others consider it worse than standard Android TV, so YMMV)

Nokia Streaming Box 8000 (similar hardware to CCwGTV, but with "standard" Android TV)

Xiaomi Mi Box S or the cheaper Mi TV Stick

Dynalink

These are all Netflix-certified. Avoid random Android TV boxes/sticks from no-name companies if Netflix matters to you.

Or get a Fire TV stick from Amazon, alternatively.

Mibox from Xiaomi works well for me. Very affordable too.

I like the Dynalink box from Walmart.
