[Google TV] Why does clicking 'Watch Now' start from the last episode, and not the first/next episode?

by CooperLuke

Is it by design (or the app developer's fault) that when you click on "Watch Now" from Google TV it plays the last episode of a series, and not the first / next episode?

It's been really annoying. I found the new Star Trek Lower Decks through Google TV, and I was watching the last episode of the series for 20 minutes before noticing the problem.

Edit: It’s worth adding I’ve since isolated this issue to Prime Video, with playing the last episode in the series. Other apps (BBC iPlayer) are smarter.

Probably just going to the “latest” episode which in this case would be the last episode of the series. Agreed bad implementation tho and should be smarter in knowing where you are in the series vs. a generic implantation for all.

Unfortunately it is probably poor implementation of the content owner’s app integration into Google TV. The app is supposed to manage the “Watch Now” placeholders and move to the next episode when the previous one has been watched up to 95% due to end credits. Because the previous episode wasn’t watched up to a 100% the episode placeholder did not move on, the app should have moved it on. As for playing the last episode, that sounds like a bug yes
