I'm interested in importing the latest google chromecast with TV, but as i understand it, currently it's only available for US market, and more or less customized for US market currently.
If i happen to import it and use it on unsupported region, would i receive an update to firmware that's more customized to my region later when available ? Would they know that i've imported it to outside of US ?
I can't speak for Europe but at least in Germany it is available both online as well as in brick and mortar stores.
I use the German version in an "incompatible" country. At this point it is not worth to invest in it, the only plus is the remote control. The rest is definitely on the minus side compared to a good classic Chromecast.
I’m using it with no issues. There is no “for you” tab outside the US. But that’s a minor note and can be fixed with a VPN. I’m getting updates but Google is slow with the new android 11.
Not sure if this answers your question, but I had mine imported from Miami to Managua, Nicaragua and my device has gotten 2 security updates and 2 software patches for the remote. I've been using it frequently since late October and I've barely experienced any issues with it. I do not get the For You tab because of the region I'm located in and also certain US-only services/apps don't work here without VPN but other than that my CWGTV works great.
