What’s best suited to seniors?

by K192

Does anyone have any recommendations for a smart tv best suited for older people that are not tech-savvy? I am trying to figure out what kind of smart tv is best, and if I should also gift a Google TV chrome cast? The goal is to keep things simple and connect them to steaming content that they have never had access to. Thanks!

I'm over 65 and we have LG and Vizio smart tvs, but purchased the Google Chromecast with YoutubeTV to replace our DirecTV setup. The GCYTTV has mostly worked well with few problems. We like the remote and channel listings, and it costs about 1/2 of what we used to pay DirecTV.

I would buy them a recent smart tv. I noticed that too many remotes or different interfaces confuse older not tech savvy people. 1 TV, 1 remote, 1 interface that can handle most common apps.

I myself find LG's WebOS very easy to use and most common apps are available

I would say Roku. It’s super easy to learn and the remote is pretty basic.

100% get them a Roku TV. The TCL 6-Series (the model number of the 2020 version is R635) is hands down the best TV for the money. The 5-Series (S535) is a little cheaper and is also very good.

Don't buy a smart tv. Buy a regular one with a great picture and then buy a Roku Premiere. Much faster OS and easier to understand because it has "channels"
