I have a hisense android based tV. It's kinda slow. Is the CC with google tV much faster for things like plex and some services?

by idontcarethatmuch

Title says it. My H9F isn't exactly snappy with it's UI, so I was wondering if the fairly inexpensive Chromecast with GTV is appreciably faster. I run mostly Plex but also Netflix and YTTV.

Any feedback is appreciated!

The problem with most TV sets is its RAM, they usually have 1GB or 1.5GB which is not enough, 2GB should be the norm these days, most TV boxes have 2GB while others have 4GB, but 2GB along a recent SoC is enough for most tasks, you can take a look at this list:

Yes - built in smart software is painfully slow on many brands. You will see a performance improvement with just about any streamer (CCwGTV, Roku, etc.)

Yes I had the same issue with a hisense tv, got one of the new Google chromecasts... It's so much faster. Things can get a bit tricky with 5.1 sound but I got it working. I tried to buy a non smart tv but didn't find one.

If u have surround sound you'll have to play with the tv and cc sound settings. I should also mention Android TV in general still has bugs and needs the occasional restart.
