TV won't turn on unless unplugged and plugged again

by admirbudva

First thing I want to mention is that this might not be software a fault, but since this is my first Android TV, *maybe* you can help me!

So, I bought this TV (you can find a user manual on the link in case you need it) a couple of days ago. It worked fine for the first couple of days but then, one morning, I just couldn't turn it on with my remote. I thought it was a bug or something, so I unplugged the TV from the wall and plugged it back in and everything was fine. I turned it on *with the remote* and everything was back to normal (as in, I used the remote normally and everything was OK)
Next day, same thing. I decided to reset the TV to it's factory settings. I proceed to install the only four apps I need on my TV, and those are YouTube, Spotify, Twitch and Stremio.
But the problem remained.

Few things to note:

-the remote works just fine

-there's an LED indicator on the TV that reacts to remote buttons. When the TV is powered off, it's red and when it's on it's green.

-the LED also switches for a second when powering on the TV for the first time after I plug it back in, but it DOESN'T when I turn it off in the night and try to power it on in the morning (it stays red)

If you need any other info, just ask! :)

Thank you!

I've never heard of this brand. Even known brands give horrible android tv experiences quite often. Return the TV if you can, otherwise complain to the manufacturer. The issue is the implementation of android tv from the manufacturer, not android tv itself.

I just wanted to add that I supersize with you. Good luck.

Are you using HDMI ARC for audio? I ran into a similar problem with my tv. Unplugging everything (power and hdmi), then plug tv in, audio, then other hdmi devices. That worked for me.

Probably a stupid question, but can You turn it back on with remote emediately after you turn it off at night?

If you have some kind of cable box or other devices connected to TV try to disconnect them and test.

If your tv remote uses bluetooth, there has to be option to pair it again with TV. Usually an indication would be that you have voice control on the remote or qwerty keyboard etc - or it could be other way around - IR signal gets lost, and bt is fine...

But as others have said go for warranty, if You are still within the rights to return the TV with full refund, do that, and just buy a new one, because repair will take time...

I had this issue with my Sony Bravia. Turns out it's a weird bug if you leave a USB plugged in. I hope that's what's going on for you and it's an easy fix!

Definitely check to see if you are still under warranty first. If so I would go that route. If not, you could buy a smart plug and create a rule to turn off the power to the plug at 3:00am every night and restore power at 3:01am. That way it will essentially power cycle it every night while you are sleeping and then you should be able to power on the tv again in the morning.

The power supply is most likely going bad.
