Network disconnects with VPN app

Has anyone else experience that after installing a VPN add such as ExpressVPN the network disconnects and the VPN app is unable to connect to the VPN provider?

I tried with a few vpn apps but experiencing the same issue.

do you use ethernet network? my understanding is that Android 9 doesn't support VPN over ethernet, before switching on any VPN you have to manually connect to the wifi, do some prays, and switch on the VPN app. In this case i found it works 70/80% of the times.

It is a known Problem. But it it is easy to bypass it.

Here is the solution:

  1. Connect with the VPN (if it says error or can't connect, that's normal, leave it on)
  2. Go to Android Settings -> Network & Internet -> IP Settings
  3. Select "DHCP"
  4. Now it should work. Don't reconnect your VPN.
