I have looked all over the web for the answer to this question, but all the answers actually confused me even more.
So, I already have a smart TV. It's not Android, it's smart.
I need to install apps like Stremio so that I can watch movies over Torrent.
Other than that, my TV can run pretty much every app natively.
PS: I have Amazon Prime as well, if that is an added bonus in case I choose Fire Stick.
Anyway, I am confused as there is no fixed answer to which device is better.
What I would mainly give stars to:
- Longer update support
- Fluid interface with least lags
- Price
In India, here the pricing of both devices:
- Fire Stick 4K: ₹5,999 (~$82)
- Mi Box 4K: ₹4,200 (~$58)
Now, Fire Stick 4K is much costly than Mi Box. But, is it a better device?
Or, is that price tag unfair? If that's the case, why do people even buy Fire Stick?
Need genuine help :)
Edit: I bought Fire Stick 4K. Performance is butter smooth. Stremio had to be offloaded but works perfectly fine. Totally satisfied with the experience. Thanks to everyone for their recommendations :)
Mi Box 4k is Rs 3299 currently. Fire stick is Rs 3999 (but goes even lower during sales)
MI box comes with a USB slot as well which is useful for local playback. For fire stick you need to buy adapter separately.
Fire stick is the more stable of the two devices as Xiaomi sometimes messes up with the updates. I am still on Android 8 on the Mi box and no major issues as such though
Prime video app works smoother on fire stick.
MI box being android TV has a much cleaner UI and sideloading apks is easier.
