Better NVIDIA Shield Android TV Remote Control?

by Marc_NJ

Anyone have any recommendations for a better remote control for the NVIDIA Shield?

I'd like it to be able to do the following:

  • backlit
  • gyroscope mouse control
  • ability to use IR to control power and TV volume
  • ability to have multiple remotes control the same NVIDIA Shield
  • Voice command/control

I tried this one ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08B8DLN41 ), but it wasn't backlist (not a big deal), but also couldn't control TV volume as far as I could tell, and I am not sure if I could add more remotes to the same NVIDIA Shield.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: I wrote "backlist" but meant "backlit" - sorry!

2nd EDIT: I also added voice command/control to the list above (or at least a way to activate the built-in NVIDIA Shield voice control).

I think I used a wechip g20. Very solid remote.

We bought a 8” fire tablet as a dedicated remote and that’s what we leave / use in the movie room in case someone doesn’t have their phone with them

No idea what backlist is but the 2019 Shield remote does 2 of the other 3. No mouse

With all that I’d say just use your phone and the nvidia shield app

Take out the mouse bullshit and lots of remotes fit the bill.

Sofabaton U1 is the best third party remote I've found, but no air mouse or voice control. Wechip G20 has the air mouse and claims voice works, though I've never found that to be true.

Honestly, I own these and close to a dozen others and my daily driver is the Official Shield 2019 remote.

I use a Harmony Ultimate One with hub for mine. Remote is backlit but needs recharged in a dock every few days. It can be paired with any Shield, plus infrared controls for any other device. It's probably more useful if you have a lot of components tho. You can find much cheaper options.
