Brought my first Android TV, DO NOT buy a Panasonic

by TheGnomeFarmer

So as title says, brought my first Android TV about a month ago. It's a Panasonic 43HX700. Never had a problem with Panasonic TVs before, always worked great, but this thing is an absolute piece of garbage. It's slow, supper laggy, netflix and you tube just crash sometimes. You tube has even randomly just opened its self a few times. It's absolutely nothing like any panasonic I've had before in the past, literally the worst TV I have ever owned. DO NOT ever buy this TV.

Always buy a dumb tv and connect smart devices.

The old Japanese electronic brand names like sharp, jvc, and panasonic have all sold/leased their brand name to chinese companies. Past experience with these companies should mean nothing. At least we still have LG and Samsung from Korea.

Never buy a Smart TV for the smart TV features. 99% of the time they are laggy, or will be after a year or two of software updates. The only exception to that most of the time is Roku TVs, but then you have to put up with a terrible outdated UI and lack of codec support. Spend the $50 on a Chromecast with Google TV, or many of the other good smart devices out there. If possible buy a "dumb" TV, but that's not very common anymore.

I have two android TVs a 65 Hisense Q8G and 50 Sony X800. Both very quick. Other TV is a 55 Samsung Q80 and it's Tizen OS is no faster, I like the Android TV OS, I'll be buying a higher end Android/Google TV for my next.

Didn’t even know Panasonic was still in the TV business. Haven’t seen or heard about them in years.

Panasonic TV? There's a blast from the past. I know they made good plasma TVs back in the day but I don't think they even make TVs anymore, do they?

Oh boy... I really want a Chromecast built-in TV for ease and convenience and my budget isn't high so I'm considering these 2:

Xiaomi 4S 4K 43 " or Sharp Android TV

Anyone has any experience with these 2? Please let me know

Can you share the build fingerprint?

Have you tweaked the animations in dev settings? You can set also a limit to background processes.

Basically, just don't buy an Android TV. I too learned this lesson the hard way. I ended up buying a Chromecast w Google TV because it was cheap with the Netflix bundle and nearly all my issues were fixed.
