Android TV for offline use

by JBeibs2012

Hey all,

I'm looking for an Android solution that I can use in my car for offline netflix, D+ and prime playback. I bought I cheap tv box off Amazon but that was garbage.

I can't seem to find a decent Android TV box with a hard drive that will allow me to download content from the streaming services. My most recent idea is to get a tablet or phone that will be easily "docked".

For context this is so my kids can watch Netflix on our cars backseat screen.

Anyone know if a good solution?

Thanks!

If this is what you want buy a small PC.

Sounds like you are really overcomplicating just getting them a Fire Kids tablet.

Android TV devices don't allow to download movies or episodes from streaming services for offline viewing, not even local streaming apps like Plex or Emby allow that since they are meant to be sitting on a furniture or shelf.

You can obviously copy videos and music to a hard disk connected to the box and then play them locally using apps for that purpose and the Play Store is full of them.

The only Android TV device with an internal 500 GB hard disk is the Nvidia Shield Pro.

You can better use a tablet as you mention.

Just buy a Fire tablet
