Is there any difference in Android Smart TV's (Sony/Hisense/TCL/etc) user interface?

by richterbelmont10

I bought a 2020 58" Hisense H8G Android smart tv. I have some issues with it since there doesn't seem to be any way to make all icons and text bigger, neither can I find a way to change the picture settings to eliminate the large black bars that appear above and below certain movies. I was wondering, would the other Android smart tv brands be any better (Sony, TCL, etc), or is the user interface the same?

No Android TV versions have control of icon or text size.

It depends on the version of Android TV

You can stretch the display to eliminate black bars but that's a fairly standard feature of most Tvs

You can get rid of the black bars with overscan settings I believe. I'm not sure what you would adjust it to though. Personally, I don't/won't do this myself. The black bars are usually only movies that have been recorded in 1.85:1 . TVs are 16:9. You'll have to go through some trial and error to get it right.

settings > display & sound > advanced display settings > adjust for overscan
