So currently I have mi box s connected to tv via hdmi. My tv have CEC hdmi. One thing I noticed in netflix, I can't choose 5.1 audio unless I choose spdif in mi box s.
Now, I'm planning to get home theater system sony ht rt3. It have analog in, hdmi out, and tv in.
My question is, can I get the 5.1 effect if I connect my tv through hdmi to this new sony home theater system?
Hope my description is clear enough. I'm really new at this
Edit: my tv has dolby digital + compatible, but the home theater only have dolby digital (without +)
Netflix only supports Dolby Digital Plus.
The Mi Box and Mi Box S and nearly every Android TV box with Android 9 and above with an optical audio port can output a Dolby Digital Plus to Dolby Digital conversion ONLY if you select the SPDIF option in audio settings, if you select AUTO it won't do the conversion.
However, if you connect your Mi Box to a 2017 and beyond TV (most are Smart TVs) it will decode the Dolby Digital Plus codec though the HDMI port as long as you select AUTO in the Mi Box audio settings, then the TV will output the same Dolby Digital Plus bitstream through the HDMI-ARC port AND/OR at the same time a Dolby Digital bitstream through the optical port of the TV.
What you use here depends on what inputs the home theater has.
