Which audio connection will allow me to control external speakers volume through TV remote?

by cazorlagasm

Hello

I have an Android TV (local Singapore brand: PRISM+), and the only way I have managed to control sound coming out of external speakers (Edifier S350DB), connected to the TV is via Bluetooth. Using optical cable doesn't work, as in that case, the sound comes out of the TV speaker as well as the external speakers, and I need to mute the TV to only hear sound through the external speakers. The TV has an HDMI arc port. Is there a way I can use that, to connect my speakers so that my TV remote will work?

Thank you.

A universal remote. The edifier has no hdmi port ARC stands for audio return channel and has nothing to do with volume, CEC allows that to happen over hdmi.

Headphone jack will probably allow volume control with TV remote. You'll just set the speakers to a fixed volume and then adjust the TV output level.

It's pretty strange that the Audio comes out from both Optical and External speakers while using with Optical Cable. Are you sure there's no settings in the TV to make the volume come out only from the Sound system?
