Playback problems for a 4 hours video file in USB

by roromx

Im having problems trying to watch a 4 hours 4k video on my TCL Android TV. Maybe the file is too big? (30gb).

Any Advice? split the file in two?

That Jack Snyder cut isn't worth it anyway

Stream it from your pc via Plex

You haven't provided enough details. What app are you using? What interface (usb/wifi/ethernet)? Easiest would probably be setting up a share on your computer and installing kodi on the tcl, then add the share to library. Wired would be preferable to wireless but 5ghz should handle it in most cases.

Have you played 4k videos that have similar video and audio bitrates directly on the TV before?

It's running Android, so what video player are you using? You could try Nova Video to see if it makes any difference.

It might be too much for the processor to handle.

If you think it's a file size issue you could test that theory out by using MKVToolnix on a computer and split the video out into 4 one hour files.

Use VLC media player to convert it down to a lower quality, that is the only option that worked for me.

39 GB seemed to prove too big to play for the TV from external USB drive and too large to stream for Plex on my LAN.

The convert down with right codec will still maintain a great quality, if not the frame rate.

Connect a laptop to the TV and play it on the laptop. Direct playing via USB is a shitshow.

Playing from USB is always slow as shit

4K added onto 4 hours is gambling with today’s TV boxes. Any glitches in transmission can stop the recording. Plus, the shear size may be greater than FAT can hold. Consider changing the format to NTFS to get around file size limitations.
