Phillips TV remote eating batteries!

by Doris343

I have had my tv for 6 months and found last week the battery had died. No problem I’ll replace it. Couple days go, dead. Okay maybe the new batteries suck egg. Next day dead again.

I replaced the batteries again and left the remote untouched. After about two days the batteries have just been eaten up. I really have no idea why and now my tv is stuck on HDMI1 👍

Tv is a 43 inch backlit Phillips android tv 43PUS8545/12

Why? How? What do? Help?

One of the buttons may be stuck. Most IR LEDs emit a small amount of visible light, so take it into a very dark room and see if the LED is on.

If so, you might be able to take it apart and clean it, or just press and wiggle buttons hntil you find the culprit and shake it loose.

If not, you’ll need to geg a new remote.

I've been having the same issue with my remote. It's been doing it since I purchased the TV. To be 100% honest this Philips Android TV is the worst TV I've ever had. It constantly freezes and once a day it shuts down on it's own and when it boots back up it brings me to the android error screen and I have to unplug it and hope that it starts back up with no (more) problems. I'm not always that lucky though, I've had to factory reset in 7 times because of this. I've been blasting Philips on Twitter with all this and they finally have gotten back to me but with nothing that actually fixes my problem. End of rant lol!
