Good non "usual" apps for Android TV?

by XellossNakama

Apart from the usual ones... (streaming services, media players, weather, music streaming, file managaers, etc)... which apps you have installed you found useful?

For example, anydesk was a good app I installed that is not common in most "good android apps" lists... Most have very obvious apps as netflix, prime, youtube, etc... but the non common ones are the ones for recommending!

Which other apps you have that are very good but most people seems to ignore they exist? (or didn't realise to install it in a tv)

RetroX , a great emulation frontend collection.

Chrome , but you will need to download another app to make it appear on the homescreen.

FX File Explorer , arguably the best file manager for Android TV.

VLC , because it plays everything.

Your question is too broad. You can install almost any android app, providing you know how to sideload it. It depends on what you need, and which peripherals do you have/are willing to get. An airmouse is mandatory for me, but if you also get a full size keyboard it enables you to use some apps way more comfortly, and I suspect if you're using Anydesk you already have it.

If you're into gaming and have a controller, emulators of classic consoles are a must, since the majority of android games are designed to work with touchscreen only. Retroarch is an all-in-one solution for emulation, but I still find its UI atrocious. Also, Parsec or Rainway are good apps for streaming any PC game to your android device, even emulators of higher end consoles. You can even use them to edit videos on your PC, they're probably better than Anydesk for most tasks. Steam Link is specific for Steam games.
