found this post looking for one and ended with Nvidia box everyone is raving about (the number 1 here: https://toowired.com/best-android-tv-box/ ) yes it's cost a little more then the the other android tv box but it's just so much better totally worth the extra money
The Nvidia Shield is awesome, and can do a lot of things. Feel free to check out this post and the sub if you're curious
All you need to know about the Shield TV! - https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndroidTV/comments/auy8tj/all_you_need_to_know_about_the_shield_tv/
If you just want an Android TV for streaming only, similar to a Roku, the new Chromecast is worth looking into
Chromecast with Google tv for streaming!
If you just going to use it to stream movies/tv shows/netflix etc I don't see the point in spending too much, I got this no brand tv box from Amazon (the exact model I got is the number 3 on this list https://toowired.com/best-android-tv-box/ ) and it's been working really great, it's fast (the 4gb ram is plenty) and the picture quality is awesome
Nvidia shield 150 bucks best package
Rest are not worth it imo
I do not have a 4K TV and I do not game, but my favorite Android type devices for streaming are as follow in order of my favorites first on the list. NVidia Shield, I use the 2017 model with an attached SSD for additional storage. Next favorite is Fire TV Cube, 2nd Generation. I also have a Roku Ultra, not especially fond of it, but my sister loves hers and I am not able to even get her to try the 2017 Shield or Fire TV Cube that I set up for her. I just do not care for the limitations with the Roku OS. I also have multiple Tivo 4K boxes with two still sitting in their boxes. I have buffering issues with the Tivo in my experience. I use everything wirelessly with a VPN. I have cable with a speed of 200 and when VPN is running (IP Vanish) my speeds are down between 90-115, when setting the VPN to access Los Angles, Las Vegas, western Canada, Germany or France and I am located in the USA in So. CA. Good Luck with your choice.
Depends what you want to spend and how you plan to use it.
If you do plex/kodi type shit, game and so forth, then the Shield is the way to go.
If you just want to Stream it'd be the ccgtv or TS4k. If you want Google to give you tons of things to watch based off of your viewing habits, then the ccgtv. If you prefer app based rows on your home screen with some sort of customization to your like, the TS4k is a decent choice. Also if you do the dvr or live channels thing as the tivo remote is geared towards it.
If you plan on adding on Ethernet, external storage and such, the ccgtv seems to have greater hub compatibility than the TS4k, but there is quite a bit that works with both. And if you are putting out for a passthrough power hub, you might want to consider the tube Shield since you won't need to spend for dongles and can throw a microsd inn for additional storage.
If you just want to do Ethernet or a USB drive, the TS4k is nice because it has microUSB for power as well as usb-c you can do either of the above cheaply without needing a pass through power type hub.
Straight up you're talking about a $100+ difference between the Shield and the other basic streamers. If all you want is basic streaming and no real adding on to the device, the Shield is just a waste of money for a little extra snapiness you'd never notice unless you were doing a direct a/b. Adding on hubs/dongles can close the price gap and make it a harder choice.
There are some other decent boxes that fall between the basic and the Shield, but you're buying from Europe and China. And the one I like, I forget if it's Netflix certified since Netflix puts their pussy on a pedestal and holds the mfg hostage.
As someone else mentioned, I'd go with the Nvidia Shield. It has great specs, is reliably updated, can play any sort of video file you can throw at it, and is supported by a lot of streaming apps.
Chrome cast with google TV
It depends on what your looking to do. I’d venture to say for just watching streaming services the TivoStream 4K is the cheapest quality AndroidTV device
Can't go wrong with an Nvidia Shield TV.
I have a Chromecast ( 2nd gen ), a mi box and an nvidia shield TV....
And honestly, my favourite is the nvidia shield TV but that's because I play a lot of emulators ( up to GameCube )...
If I just wanted to watch content on YouTube, like I do with the TV in my bedroom , I'm happy with the mi box...
No such thing as "best." Best for streaming? Best for gaming? Best value? Best specs? Best warranty? Best support? You get the idea.
Firestick android
Shield Pro 2019 if you don't have a budget. Chromecast with Google TV if you do.
