My soundbar (Samsung HW-Q60T) is basically useless because it only supports dolby digital 5.1 and Netflix (on Android) uses Dolby digital plus for 5.1.
When Chromecast is plugged into soundbar: Soundbar does not provide 5.1 -> stereo only, manually enforcing "Dolby Digital Plus" in Chromecast settings provides the "5.1" option in netflix but leads to no sound (obviously soundbar cant handle the signal)
When plugged into TV: Huge audio delay as TV takes over "conversion" (Even when set to "Passthrough" my tv switches back to Auto during Netflix playback).
Android TV boxes with Dolby Digital Plus to Dolby Digital conversion when using "Auto" while they are connected to a TV, AV receiver and soundbar with only Dolby Digital decoding by HDMI are:
- Nvidia Shield 2019
- Mecool KM8
- MyGica ATV495Max and 598Max
- WeTek Air
The rest don't have it, however, Android TV boxes with Android 9 and above and an optical audio port can do the conversion when the SPDIF option is selected in the audio settings.
Your TV should have an option to adjust the delay but that's the best option you have to get the conversion going.
