Sony Bravia TV turns off on first boot.

by DanReddit92

I've got a SONY BRAVIA KD43XG8096BU, it's developed this really strange qwerk where after turning the TV on it will boot up, load the the say main menu screen then turn straight off again. I have to then power it back up a second time for it to stay on. The issue also happens when I run a Google command "Google, Open Netflix on the TV" it will power up, then turn off. If I say the command again it will work.

I've tried resetting the TV to default, does the same thing... I don't know what else to try & fix it?

Here's a random one with my Sony TV: If I use the remote to power on, and withdraw the remote immediately from line-of-sight from IR, the receiver assumes I'm still holding down the power button and performs a shutdown or reset. Maybe that's what's happening to you too? It's stupid, I only use the remote on my Chromecast with Google TV now.

Resetting the tv to factory defaults is the best solution you can do to rectify your problem. As you already did it.Arrange a service visit by sony engineer.

I have a similar issue except my TV stays on for about a half hour before it turns off, ONLY when I'm using native apps though. If I use my shield it doesn't do it. If I switch inputs back to native apps it'll turn off. It's the weirdest thing. You'd think it would be an easy software fix.

OP, I have the same exact issue. I’m surprised no one here has it because there are a few forums (including Reddit posts) that say that this is a known error.

Here is my work around until they update they firmware:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/smart-sonremote-tv-remote/id1397149892

This app costs money so sorry about that. No one should NEED to use this, but it’s the solution that has worked for me.

If you set this app up and then use it to turn your Bravia off (directly turning the Bravia off as opposed tO ATV seems to bypass this reboot error) - it will allow you to set a shortcut command up.

Once the shortcut command becomes available, you can tie it to Siri.

Once Siri has the shortcut, it’s a matter of saying “hey Siri, turn off the Bravia”

This works for me

Tv and Android, two things never stick together.
