TV seems to be dead after 3 months...

by ghiste

Hi

I have a tcl 50c715 that worked fine for 3 months, but yesterday it suddenly produced strange noises and I couldn't turn it off any more.

So I unplugged it and now when I start it the home-screen is almost empty and none of the few icons that are left work - nothing happens.

In particular I cannot access the settings menu anymore and this seems to be the only way to do a factory reset.

Unfortunately I cannot contact tcl support before Monday, so I wonder does anyone has an idea what I could try? ,

Perhaps the TCL can be forced to factory reset like Sony Android TV's. Try unplugging the TV from the wall then holding down the power button on the TV itself and plugging it back in. Continue to hold down the power button while the TV starts (up to 30 seconds). If it works the TV will restart on its own after the reset is complete and then it will boot to the factory setup screen.

Probably won't work but worth a try.

There are other ways to do factory reset. Download firmware for your tv, put in on USB stick, and you can reflash it.

Check to see if there's a hard reset button onnthe side or back of the TV. Whatever you decide to try though, just be careful not to do something that could void your manufaturer's warranty.

No, TCL TV'S R COOL, its just that with all these devices, they want to make them into a Swiss army knife,
