Read only filesystem on formatted Samsung/EVO970Plus - USB 3.x - AndroidTV 10

by jordanvanbergen

I have a mecool mk6 with AndroidTV 10.
I hook a SSD → Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB → using an external HDD case USB 3.1 to the box. The box recognized the HDD and I can format it as an external device (I don't want to get all app etc. on this External HDD).

As soon as I want to try to add a directory or file I get the notification that the external HDD named "Android" is readonly !!!

If I hook it to a windows 10 machine I can write on the external HDD without any problem. When I put it back on the Mecool MK6 read only again.

Anyone knows how I will get this external SDD mounted to be writable?

Try to format it to exFAT if is NTFS.

When using the USB3 port it says here that this is Read Only, so if you are using that port, it seems to be right. https://androidpctv.com/review-mecool-km6-deluxe-opinion/

" It has a USB 3.0 port for connecting external drives (read only) or peripherals. "

What app are you using to move or copy files on it?

It won't work as external drive. Will be readonly always.

Only if you format the external HDD as internal storage and move all apps you can WRITE on the external SDD HDD.

So it's no longer a real removable HDD as it has the internal storage on it but at least you can use the full 1TB of the external SDD HDD now ;-)
