Just created a kids profile for my daughter and the home screen is completely locked down showing just the apps you allow.
If you allow all apps and set no restrictions you'll have a simple app list with no ads and it's aaaall good.

I set one of these up a few weeks ago but was annoyed by not seeing an easy way to move the app order around. Admittedly I didn't spend too much time trying tho...
I've noticed, being outside the US, some regions don't get the ads, the moment I put my VPN to use an US server I do though. So using a VPN and filtering to only affect the launcher should do the job.
Anyone tried this on a tivo? Does the new profile inherit the credentials for the apps or I have to login again?
download ATV Launcher from the Google playstore on your Android tv device
Use that launcher. stop using the stock one ads will be gone
i hate coppa
its awesome
Has anyone tried using lucky patcher to remove ad services, etc by patching the launcher?
How is that different to just enabling app only mode?
Mibox s, no ads
I JUST FIGURED IT OUT!!! ARGHGFBNDAJKFHNSADKLFN
after weeks of grating my teeth wondering why in the heck have i paid thousands of dollars for a tv only to be bombarded by ads on the homescreen
go to play store, search for "home tv" something along those lines. i think the app is just called home, basically it's the prepackaged launcher. press uninstall, it'll only uninstall the update.... AND NOW NO MORE PEACOCK DISNEY+ ADS BLA BLA BLA..
relief.
Tried it. Only real difference vs apps only mode is the kids theme picture at top of screen vs the spotlight ad taking up a third of the screen. Google Assistant is disabled on Kids profiles too apparently.
Warning to those who want to try this and are using Kodi v18. It will update to 19.1 if you give Kodi permissions in a new kids profile. Good thing I backed up Kodi yesterday.
