Use phone as an android tv

Hello,

I'm upgrading phones soon. I have a note 10 with a cracked screen. I love the phone and don't want to shove it in a drawer and never use it. The chip it has is still pretty great and storage is decent. I had an idea to turn it into a more powerful version of the new chromecast. I have a powered USB C to HDMI adapter and can run dex with a wireless keyboard but I'd prefer it if I could have a more tv instead of pc-like experience.

I installed the APK of android tv but it kind of crapped out. I then tried to use another tv launcher and a chromecast remote which is fairly okay but no apps are optimized for a tv experience. I tried downloading the netflix tv apk designed for the tv but my phone won't install it. Is this a dead dream? How can I create my snapdragon powered android tv experience? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I don't think Android TV Roms exist like they do for Android for Phones/tablets.

You're lucky you have dex. My shield TV died a week back. I have a oneplus 7 Pro lying around and have been struggling to get it to work on the TV with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I want the phone screen to stay off while it's connected to the TV.

Try ATV Launcher and Rotation Control. It won't be absolutely perfect but ATV will give you a leanback style launcher and Rotation Control will allow you to force landscape mode in apps instead of running in portrait mode
