Channel signal meter?

by jelieber

I have a Philips 50' 4k Android TV with everything updated. It's the newest model line.

How do I check the signal strength of an OTA tv channel, is there even a way to do it on an Android tv. I used to be able to on all my old TV's even back to a 2006 plasma I had, I'd rather not have to buy an extra device to do something it should already do.

Check the settings in the tv menu. My Samsung Q6 has it in Advanced settings, your phillips should also offer it. You may be able to get that OTA over the Internet.

No idea about that specific TV, but on a Sony's one i eventually ended up finding it in the most unlikely place, the "help" app, one that gets launched when you press "help" button on the remote. At the last row it got "signal diagnostics", which opens the last OTA channel with signal strength and snr overlay. And that thing can ONLY be found there, in "help", not in the settings, so check your help menu as well, who knows, can be there as well.
