Will putting two TCL Android TV's next to each other cause remote interference?

by deyjay5

I am looking to buy two TV's and place them right next to each other (one for me, one for my spouse). Specifically, the "TCL 40" Class 3-Series Full HD Smart Android TV". Does anybody know if this would cause remote interference, or are the remotes linked to only 1 TV?

No interference. I have the same tv(which I've been very happy with), and the remote is 100% Bluetooth. No IR to turn it on.

I have two hisense android tvs next to eachother and at startup i had problems. after they are setup with bluetooth you have less issues but sometimes they un-sync or on power up use IR.

I put a small piece of black electrical tape over the TVs IR sensor area and it still works but only if you are closer and aiming at the one its intended for.

Wait... Why would you put two TVs right next to each other?

Like others said, blah blah IR or BT.

Once powered on, don't forget about the Android TV remote on your phones. It's quick, has keyboard and touchpad and would not cause interference since it's IP based...and I hear it's getting a big update/integration soon too!

If the 3 series uses IR, then yes there will be interference. If it uses bluetooth, you’ll be fine. I know the 4 series is IR and the 6 series is BT but i have no idea what the 3 series uses.

Check the manuals of the TV's and see if they use IR Remotes (which I bet they do). If they do, look further to see if you can change the remote channel/frequency. This was very popular back in the CRT days to avoid two remotes on the same channel. I'm not sure if it carried over or not to modern TVs.

My most modern TV is from 2014. LOL.

I think they only use IR for turning off and on, which might be convenient if it turns both off an on with one single push of a button lol.

Find the angle of broadcast for the remote, point right 80° for right TV, left 80° for left TV. Then realize it bounces off things like walls sometimes. Say darn, nearly had it. Install black foam in all walls. Build a fiber optic relay conduit from couch. A long PVC tube, wait some plastics are transparent to IR, wrap in foil.

Win!
