Controller support is a total crapshoot. There is no easy way to tell whether a game will support external gamepads from the Google Play page.
You have to read the game description and the users reviews.
In two weeks you will game access to a large library of games like Destiny 2, ESO, RDR2, Madden, FIFA, and many more through Stadia.
Here's the thing. GeForce now and stadia well pretty much work on any current device.
But yeah if gaming is your thing,. The Shield Pro still has the flag .
The top post of all time is this meme that just suggests Nvidia Shield. I myself ended up buying a Nvidia Shield TV Pro, and I'm pretty happy. Much faster and more powerful than the built-in Android TV from my Philips TV. It also has some extra nice features, such as a setting to always emit a "silent audio", so that external soundbars will stay awake, so that audio can start playing immediately without any delay. This is such as niche small thing but it improves the user experience.
If you are thinking about serious gaming on Android TV… Well, think again. Android games with incomplete gamepad support are few, and even fewer with proper gamepad support. And even fewer have been released to Android TV. I've ranted about it in another thread .
