Hello everyone!
I plan on buying a new Android TV for my room that also supports Far Field Voice Control thanks to its incorporated mics.
It's being marketed as a TV that can be turned on or off using only your voice, can send questions and commands to Google Assistant and can even control smart home objects using it.
BUT
Commercials only show it taking commands while the TV is running...
Here comes my question: would this kind of TV be able to control smart objects around the house (say a light or plug), without me having to first tell it to turn on?
To me it would be rather inconvenient having to first tell the TV to power on (even if it's by voice) to then tell it to light up a bulb.
Voice commands on android tv suck. You normally need to activate the mic on the remote, and yes the TV needs to be on. You are better off buying a cheap Google mini and place it next to the TV.
