How to control Chromecast remotely via Internet?

Hi, I bought a "Chromecast with Google TV" unit for my parents, but they are old and can't remember the sequence to open specific apps/movies using it. I would like to remote control their Chromecast unit when I'm not there in person to help them watch their favorite programs.

Is there any way to achieve that?

Might be able to side-load a remote control app like Teamviewer.

You would need to pair it with a cloud enabled remote like a Harmony Hub as direct control is not possible.

I can control my Chromecast while not at home using a VPN. You can get a raspberry pi for cheap run pivpn.io to turn it into a VPN appliance.

Direct control not possible with teamviewer on android tv os devices nor on Google chromecast only for viewing the screen only
