Sure, you can just download whatever to your PC or a network drive, use X-plore file manager on android TV to open the files via SMB network share and play them with MX Player.
No need to stream and destroy the quality of the original file. It will play just fine as is, as long as your local network is not a complete crap.
If you have a growing collection look into something like Plex.
