Use Android TV at a hospital with web page authentication

by EricThirteen

I'm going to bring my android tv into a hospital. The hospital has open wifi, but you need to agree to terms that pop up in a browser. Will this form of auth work with Android TV? Thanks!

Edit: thanks for the help. I got it to work, see my reply below.

I got it to work. After connecting to the hospital guest network the OS says you need to login. I opened the OS message saying I have to login and a blank page opened.

I connected to my phone hotspot and I installed a browser from the Android TV App Store. Then I reconnected to the hospital guest Wi-Fi. This time when I opened the login screen I could see the normal html page and accept the terms. Everything worked from here.

So it appears as though I really just needed a web browser installed so I could view the web page to accept the terms.

I'm not sure but if you can't, you might consider sharing the wifi via a hotspot if it can be done. I've done this on a gaming laptop to play a game I didn't know needed to be logged in online first before playing offline. Best of luck!

I do this at hotels all of the time with my CCwGTV with no issues

It will work natively with no issues I do this all the time with Work Wi-Fi networks.

I don't think Android TV can handle that without a workaround. (Where Fire TV can officially).

Make sure to install a browser or sideload Google Chrome eventually (though you'll need a mouse to navigate).

Edit: some people with a CC with Google TV report it works fine
